Brooke Elizabeth Malouf is a five-time nominee for NSAI’s Top 40, and the only female songwriter chosen in the 2018 statewide Texas Songwriter U contest. As such, she is a sought after lyricist in Nashville and has co-written songs with numerous notable writers and artists, including CJ Solar, Cody Webb, Phillip White, Maddie Wilson, Will Nance, Drew Gregory (Canada), Hayden Haddock, Allie Colleen, Mignon (American Idol), Sarah Lake (American Idol) and more.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Brooke grew up with parents who encouraged her from a young age to appreciate music. Family road trips always meant singing several rounds of old Baptist hymns (even though neither were Baptist) and her father made sure that Brooke knew the story behind every musical or opera before he took her to see it.

“He was passionate about why the story behind a play or musical was so important,” she says.

Her upbringing in the Dallas Theater Center’s musical theatre program started her life on a forward moving creative journey.  She wrote screenplays in college, and then in 2009 she focused all her creative talent on songwriting.  She makes the trip to Nashville every other month, and writes numerous songs each trip.

Brooke loves working with her cowriters and helping artists craft songs that truly mean something. “It taught me this incredibly gift of give and take in how to be creative and collaborative,” she says.

While her writing style is heavily influenced by a blend of country, americana and pop, she won’t let genre lines or rules come between her soul and her yellow pad in the writer’s room.

My goal is to write songs that touch people. That’s what I want my catalog (of songs) to be, whatever genre they are.”
